Primark is an Irish clothing retailer established in Dublin in June 1969.
Formerly known as Penneys, Primark stocks a number of products including women's wear, men's wear, home ware, accessories, beauty products, footwear and confectionery.
The company has largely enjoyed widespread success, selling clothing at the lower end of the market, at competitive prices. Contributing to a contemporary fashion trend, its stores are usually over several floors and often have large queues due to the stores overwhelming popularity.
Primark opened its first concession model in 2011, and is now stocked in Selfridges department stores. Like Selfridges, Primark is a subsidiary of Associated British Foods.
Employing 68000 people, Primark now has 290 stores, with the largest based in Manchester. Stores have gone on to open in a number of countries, including most recently, the United States (Boston).
