In 1945, Well Pharmacy actually started at the Co-operative Pharmacy. For a nearly 70 years, they traded under this name before reaching an agreement with the Bestway Group; the deal was thought to be around £620 million. Towards the end of 2014, the deal was completed and Bestway continued to use the name for around a year before finally deciding to rebrand as 'Well Pharmacy'.
If we look at the company as a whole which has been trading since the '40s, we see that they were actually one of the first to use Braille on all packaging. In addition to this, they became carbon neutral in 2012 which made them the first UK pharmacy to achieve the feat. Despite their long history, it was actually losses of £2.5 billion that made them explore options to sell in 2013. Now, they have around 7,000 employees working in 780 branches across the UK.
